Why Did You Want to be The Belfry’s Musician?:

  • For me, music has always been of the most important aspects of my life both as a whole and specifically within the context of my spiritual life. Coming to worship without music, I felt a great void, and wanted to make use of my talents and those of the rest of the community to enrich the worship experience and make a “joyful noise.”

Why is Campus Ministry Important?:

  • Especially within the context of a campus as vast as UC Davis, campus ministry, for myself at least, has been a crucial way to bring what would otherwise be an overwhelming experience into a more intimate setting. The Belfry has provided me with a more refined sense of community within the vast social network of the university, as well as a means by which to center myself–physically, mentally and spirituality–in and amongst the chaos of the college experience.

Favorite Belfry Memory:

  • My favorite memory would have to go all the way back to my very first night attending The Belfry when, following worship, everybody shared their stories of their own faith journey that had brought them to The Belfry that night. There was laughter and there were tears, and I think that this immediate breaking down of boundaries in front of people who were at this time complete strangers to one another was crucial in edifying the unbreakable bond that I share with the members of this community to this day, and am certain I will share this bond for many years to come.

Hopes/Dreams For The Belfry:

  • I hope that The Belfry will continue on it’s path as a strong yet tight-knit and intimate community of diversely-minded individuals bound together by a deep reverence and love not only for God, but also for one another.
